Crest & Totems
Each school has a crest creature that is considerated the being with most affinity with a certain kind of magica.
Totem creatures are also high in affinity with the school magica but have a different symbolism and work on different functions.
The crest animal is always a totem animal.
As an earthian example, if camels and horses were on the "travel" school, horses would be a totem critter for quick traveling and camels for long distance traveling. Horse being the crest creature of "travel school" means that horse is the best for traveling in general rather than a more specific kind of traveling. Which might not be true, but whatever, you get my point.
Note to self: Resist urge to rename magica to "gogurt"
